How this works

—

  • The Education Department’s (ED) public description (Jun 18 2026): borrowers enrolled in auto pay may be eligible for a temporary 1 percent interest-rate reduction. Enroll by September 30, 2026 11:59 p.m. ET (or be already enrolled) to benefit through June 30, 2028.
  • Days left counts from the date you picked to the public deadline: Sep 30 2026 11:59 p.m. ET. Color is only a helper; the number (or “Today” / “Closed”) carries the meaning.
  • Status is spelled out in words: already on autopay → no extra action for the temporary 1% reduction; not on autopay → enroll through your servicer; not sure → check with your servicer. Enroll in autopay in your loan servicer account — StudentAid.gov is not the autopay switch.
  • Who it covers: ED’s public description is for Direct Loans originated (made) after Jul 1 2012; borrowers in default must get back into good standing first. The loan-type question is optional; if you leave it blank, the card says eligibility is not confirmed. We never invent that you qualify.
  • How long it lasts: ED says the reduction runs through June 30, 2028 if you enroll by Sep 30 (or are already enrolled). The usual autopay reduction was 0.25%; borrowers already enrolled get an extra 0.75% automatically (1% total) — ED’s Jun 18 2026 public description, not an estimate for your loan.
  • No made-up savings. Business Insider (Sep 1 2026) published an example (~$23/mo for a graduate borrower, $50k @ 7.94%). That is their example — it is not shown as your number on this card.
  • We only use what you choose here — no servicer login, and we don’t pull anything from your account. We never invent a rate or monthly savings.
  • Financial disclaimer. This page explains the calendar only — not financial advice, not a Loan Simulator, not SAVE / repayment-plan advice, and not a decision that you are eligible. We never invent your rate, monthly savings, or eligibility.
